One week after undergoing successful knee replacement surgery, NBC News’ Brian Williams is recovering well. He passed along this photo taken by his wife just five days after the surgery. He tells us he can’t go anywhere without the cane — but the Jersey Shore ocean air and his daily physical therapy sessions are working wonders. We hope to see him back at NBC Nightly News soon.


Remembering Tim Russert

Five years ago Thursday longtime Meet the Press moderator Tim Russert died of a heart attack at age 58. His untimely death was a great loss for NBC News. Senior Executive Producer of Meet the Press Betsy Fischer Martin, who worked closely with Tim for 17 years, shares some personal memories and reflections on the man behind the Moderator’s chair.

Richard Engel and NBC News team freed from captors in Syria

NBC News’ Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel and members of his network production team were freed from captors in Syria after a firefight at a checkpoint on Monday, five days after they were taken prisoner, NBC News said early Tuesday.
