Disabled golfers hit the links in South Africa

The Nedbank South African Disabled Golf Open is one of the top disabled golf tournaments in the world with more than 60 competitors from various nations. People suffering from any number of physical disabilities — including arm and leg amputees, hemiplegics, paraplegics, stroke victims, blind and deaf people — that are able to grip the club with at least one hand and hit the ball can compete.

Rose edges Mickelson for U.S. Open title

Justin Rose is the lone survivor at Merion. 

During a brutal final round that identified the day’s best ball-striker, Rose blistered a long iron to the back of the 18th green, setting up a tap-in par and a two-stroke victory Sunday over Phil Mickelson and Jason Day at the 113th U.S. Open.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Tiger Woods’ victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational Monday is the 77th in his PGA Tour career and the eighth in this tournament at Bay Hill. Woods trails Sam Snead by five in career PGA Tour wins; five of Snead’s wins came in team competitions.

President Obama hits the links with Tiger Woods

President Barack Obama had some noteworthy company when he hit the links in Florida on Sunday: Tiger Woods.

The White House confirmed that Woods was among the president’s foursome for a round of golf at the Floridian Yacht and Golf Club in Palm City, Fla. Rounding out the group were United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk and resort owner Jim Crane.

On 51st birthday, Obama gets R&R: golf, then rest at Camp David

President Barack Obama celebrated his 51st birthday Saturday with a round of golf and plans for a quiet weekend at Camp David, taking a break from campaigning three months before Election Day.

Obama played golf with friends and aides at Andrews Air Force Base before heading to the presidential getaway in Maryland’s Catoctin Mountains.
