Two years ago, George Bush Sr. made a promise that he aimed to keep: When he turned 90 years old, he’d take a plunge.

And he did: The 41st president celebrated by going skydiving one last time Thursday morning.

Barbara Bush tells TODAY she was initially “shocked, surprised and thrilled” when she saw the former president’s bald head. He shaved it in support of a little boy battling leukemia. 

"It was the right thing to do," President Bush said.
