Chick-fil-A has agreed to stop funding groups with anti-same-sex marriage stances, according to a statement released Wednesday by LGBT advocacy group The Civil Rights Agenda.
Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno, who had blocked the fast-food chain from opening stores in Chicago because of its anti-gay views, likewise announced he would now let Chick-fil-A open up new outlets after he received a letter this morning from the company stating that they would cease donating to the groups.

Two days after supporters of Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy’s stance against gay marriage flocked to its restaurants for an Appreciation Day, pro-gay marriage advocates are descending on the fast-food chain with a message of their own.
“We want to show Chick-fil-A and the country that the LGBT community’s love is just as valid, just as good as heterosexual love,” said grassroots advocate Carly McGehee.

President Dan Cathy’s public stance on gay marriage kicked off a firestorm that could hurt its sales and growth prospects, although restaurant analysts say support from the religious right in core markets could make the overall business impact a wash. But to sustain this uneasy equilibrium, the company has to avoid saying or doing anything to further inflame two opposing groups of consumers.

The newest McDonald’s built at Olympic Park in London is the world’s largest, and when the Olympics begin in July, it will also be the busiest.
The restaurant, which is one of four McDonald’s to be situated within the Olympic Park, will have a staff of 500, seat 1,500 and serve up to 14,000 people a day.
