One week after undergoing successful knee replacement surgery, NBC News’ Brian Williams is recovering well. He passed along this photo taken by his wife just five days after the surgery. He tells us he can’t go anywhere without the cane — but the Jersey Shore ocean air and his daily physical therapy sessions are working wonders. We hope to see him back at NBC Nightly News soon.

Boston bombing survivor describes standing next to Tamerlan Tsarnaev

Jeff Bauman’s life changed forever the moment the bombs went off at the Boston marathon. His life-threatening injuries became a symbol of struggle and resilience after the bombings, as did the photo of Carlos Arredondo pushing the critically injured Bauman in a wheelchair moments after the explosions. Bauman spoke exclusively with NBC’s Brian Williams about realizing he stood “right next” to one of the bombers.

NBC networks to host benefit concert for Sandy victims

If you’ve been watching the coverage of Hurricane Sandy and wondering how to help, you’ll have a chance to pitch in on Friday. “Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together,” a benefit concert to aid victims of the storm that devastated the Northeast, will air at 8 p.m. ET on the networks of NBC Universal. 

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jon Bon Jovi, Sting, Christina Aguilera and Billy Joel will perform, Matt Lauer will host, and money collected will be donated to the American Red Cross relief efforts.
