Twenty-three hostages and 32 militants were killed after an attack on a natural gas plant deep in the Sahara, the Algerian interior ministry said on Saturday, according to news wires.
The official also said 107 foreign hostages and 685 Algerian hostages had been released, several news outlets reported.

Three Americans were among dozens of foreign nationals kidnapped by heavily armed militants who attacked a gas field in Algeria on Wednesday, U.S. officials said.
A militant group claimed the raid was launched in retaliation for France’s military intervention in neighboring Mali, Reuters reporting, citing media reports in the region.
