Updated at 5:57 p.m. ET: A former Navy SEAL killed in an attack this week on a U.S. consulate in Libya was described Thursday as a highly trained marksman and security expert who “lived life to the fullest.”
The man, identified by U.S. officials and family member as Glen Doherty, 42, a native of Winchester, Mass., was working as a security specialist for the U.S. government when militants attacked the U.S. Consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi on Tuesday night. He and three other Americans were killed in the attack, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and Sean Smith, an information management officer.
